2004 Sansa Workshop

Kwamivi Zewuze Adzraku was born 7th June 1958 in Anloga. His father provided him with sheets of paper and boxes of crayon to prevent him from scribbling in his books, because he realised the son loved making marks on surfaces. He remembered that in class one, the headteacher showed his work to the whole school. He was very happy and took to drawing. His father encouraged him and showed his works to friends who collected some of them. Little did he know that he was on the path of becoming an artist.

He was urged on by the father to pursue art for his future. but he refused and went to offer science in the sixth form, with the mind of becoming an engineer or a medical officer. An unfortunate incidence in the sixth form made him to have grades that did not qualify him to go for his ambition. He worked for ten months as a library assistant in a school library with the aim of resitting the papers. He later decided to go for a diploma in art education He continued to the University for Bachelor of Arts in Painting. He was in the pioneer class for Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Sculpture.

He is a lecturer in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Basketry.

ART IS LIFE, therefore art must have meaning and direction.
In my works I try to make satirical statements. I reach out to people who will like to go deeper than only seeing an art work on the surface. I hope to make the people to have intimate relationship with my works.

When I was invited for the workshop, I was very happy, but was in doubt of what to present.

The workshop environment was very inspirational enough to develop a concept. The varied background of the participants was very good for each participant to learn something new. The sponsors and the organizers gave me the chance to exhibit my conceptual works.
