112A [ Residency]

Yunnan Province
112A, Wang Jing, Beijing, is a residency space run for both international and regional visiting artists. Functioning largely as an accommodation base, 112A's residency nevertheless allows artists from outside Beijing to make work within the city's much-vaunted scene. The residency is devised as a response to the need for both international exchange, as well as opportunities for Chinese artists living outside Beijing. In both cases the residency aims to facilitate artists own networking within Beijing and exposure within the capital, as well as the production of new and experimental work.

The inaugural residency was held in November 2006. Rachel Reupke, UK video artist and photographer, and painter Wang Xiaolu from Sichuan province, were invited to work on a residency which culminated in an exhibition.
