Khoj [ Workshop & Residency]
Khoj International Artists’ Workshop was initiated in 1997 by artists in Delhi working with Triangle Arts Trust. It was the first workshop of the Triangle Network to be established in South Asia.
Since 1997, 5 consecutive annual workshops were held at Sikribagh, Modi Nagar, some 60 km from Delhi. In 2002 the Khoj Workshop moved to Mysore in South India, then Bangalore in 2003, and Mumbai in 2005.
International residencies were initiated in 2000, and Khoj studios, comprising 6 studios, office, and gallery, were established in New Delhi in 2002.
Over 130 artists from 35 countries have participated in Khoj Workshops, and Khoj has became a regional centre for the Triangle Network. Khoj manages residencies and events in Delhi from Khoj studios, helps establish workshops in the region, and is building a communications network linking workshops and residencies in South Asia through the internet.
Residency
Up to the end of 2002 12 artists from Bangladesh, Egypt, Pakistan, UK and from different parts of India have participated in the residency programme. Each residency lasts for between 6 and 8 weeks and ends with an exhibition or Open Studio.
